WEDDING INFORMATION

Bride and Groom Adoring

Your wedding ceremony at Precious Blood Catholic Church is a Christian wedding.  As such, it is primarily a public and Christ-centered act of worship in which you express your relationship to Christ, to the Christian community and to one another.  You will want to make this ceremony as beautiful and meaningful as possible.
The first person to contact is the priest.  You must contact Father Leo at least six months prior to your wedding date.  The rectory number is 540-825-8945.
Weddings are scheduled on Saturdays (no Sunday celebrations) and not after 2:00 p.m., as this would interfere with weekly confessions and the Saturday vigil mass.
Marriages are not ordinarily celebrated during Lent as it is considered a time of penance.

CONFERENCES FOR THE ENGAGED (CFE)
We're now offering on-line registration for the diocesan sponsored Conferences for the Engaged.  Couples can register by typing in www.arlingtondiocese.org/engaged. For those who would prefer to use the mail in registration forms, they are downloadable at http://arlingtondiocese.org/familylife/marriage_engaged.php
If you or any couples preparing for marriage have questions, please contact the Office for Family Life at 703-841-2550.
.
WEDDING COORDINATOR
A wedding coordinator is required to assist you in all your preparations and to ensure the smooth flow of your rehearsal and wedding ceremony.
Our wedding coordinators are Mrs. Sandy Hall (547-2969) and Mrs. Kim Shrader (825-3422).
The usual and customary fee for wedding coordinators is $100.00.
.
MUSIC
Please note that since your wedding ceremony is an official liturgical celebration, we require the use of music selections that are religious in nature.  Secular songs that are favorites of the bride and/or groom make wonderful additions to the reception.  You may borrow a cassette tape of suggested pieces to help you in the planning the music from Father Leo or our organist, Mrs. Hannah Masson (540-825-9650). Mrs. Masson can also assist you in selecting appropriate music, both instrumental and vocal, for your ceremony.  The usual and customary fee for the organist is $150.00
.
A cantor or soloist is needed for either a wedding mass or a wedding service outside of mass to lead the responsorial and the Gospel acclamation and to offer or lead any hymns or meditations before and during the ceremony.
The usual and customary fee for a soloist is $100.00.
.
     Our soloists are:
          Mrs. Anita Fretwell (540-579-4591)
          Mr. Rob Masson (540-825-9650)
          Mr. Kyle Masson (540-229-4436)
          Mrs. Monica Neighbors (540-547-4678)
.
After you select your soloist, please have them contact the organist so that practice time may be arranged.
.
If you desire other instrumentation, Mrs. Masson or the rectory can provide you with that information.
If you desire a guest organist or soloist, arrangements may be made through Mrs. Masson for access to the church and organ.
.
.. It is also customary to make an offering to the church on the occasion of your wedding.
.
All transactions of fees should be taken care of prior to or, at the latest, the day of the rehearsal.
.

MISCELLANEOUS:
.
We respectfully ask that you do not use the following during or after your ceremony:
     An aisle runner
     Bunting of any kind
Throwing of rice or bird seed
.
.
We rejoice with each wedding that is celebrated within our walls and our community.  Your love and commitment to each other reminds us of God's love and commitment to us, His church. It is our hope that your celebration truly be a sacrament--a visible, tangible sign of the presence and love of our Lord--to all who share in your celebration.
.
If you have any further questions, please contact the rectory office or Father Leo at 540-825-8945.

FLOWERS
All flowers used on the altar must be fresh. If your wish to donate your flowers to the church, they will be greatly appreciated for use at the weekend masses following your wedding. Please inform the rectory office (825-8945) of this donation at least a week before your wedding.
PHOTOS
We suggest that one photographer/videographer take pictures during the ceremony, but we ask that he/she not interfere with the service. Your wedding coordinator can open the balcony area for use, if desired. Group pictures should be taken before or after the ceremony.
